The Alameda Unified School’s diverse community of students is exposed to a rigorous academic program (including 14 AP courses) and a safe and secure environment that helps prepare students for success and community responsibility. International students can choose from a variety of academic programs including Advanced Placement courses in math, computer, biological and physical sciences, history, foreign languages, literature and government. Encinal High School even has its own dedicated international coordinator. Alameda High is known for being the former school of famous vocalist Jim Morrison, Lead singer of The Doors, and both schools have seen several baseball athletes make it to the US Major Leagues.

The facilities in the Alameda Unified School District include a swimming pool, an auditorium, sports fields, and media centers.

Sports and Arts
Alameda has a very competitive athletic program, with many graduates going on to play baseball professionally. Students have had the opportunity to compete in 8 WACC (West Alameda County Conference) titles, as well as take home a number of exciting 2nd and 3rd place finishes, in the 2015/2016 school year. Committed to exposing students to the arts, Encinal High School offers programs in visual and multimedia art, journalism, yearbook, choir, music, Theater, and dance.

Awards and Accomplishments
U.S. News and World Report Magazine has recently recognized Alameda and Encinal High Schools as two of the top high schools in the United States.
