St Thomas More School

Private Boarding School – Oakdale , Connecticut

St. Thomas More School is a college preparatory boarding school for young men from Grades 8-12 and Postgraduate. Within a structured environment, the school motivates, nurtures, and strengthens the intellectual, moral, physical, and social development of every student. At St. Thomas More students will learn an essential truth: the more you apply yourself, the more you will accomplish. Beyond the rigorous academic life, there are remarkable opportunities to be involved and active. There are many options for sports such as basketball, football, lacrosse, martial arts, and baseball. Additionally students can participate in the arts, clubs, yearbook, and community service.

Academic and Sport Facilities
There are five classroom buildings – Edmunds, Benedicts, Loyola, Aquinas, Art Cabin Gymnasium, Weight Room, Football/Lacrosse Field, 2 Soccer Fields, Baseball Field, Tennis Courts, Indoor/Outdoor Basketball Courts, Volleyball Court, Outdoor Track, Lakefront (Sailing/Crew).

Dormitories and School Residencies
The campus has three large, two-story, dormitories (St. Edmunds Dorm, John F. Kennedy Dorm and St. Benedict's Dorm). Together, they house 210 students along with faculty members (dorm parents) and their families. Students are assigned rooms and roommates based on age and grade level. The majority of the rooms are double occupancy rooms. Each dorm floor has a student lounge where students can relax, make food and watch television during their free time.

Dorm parents oversee dorm activities, the residential life curriculum and serve as an adult mentor for the students. Dorm parents are available to the students during the nighttime hours.

Each dorm floor has Resident Assistants (RA's) students, who are selected by the faculty to serve as mentors, role models, friends and floor monitors. All RA's go through a comprehensive training process and are overseen by a senior faculty member. These student leaders help the dorm parents maintain a positive, familial dorm environment.
