Founded more than 50 years ago, The Calverton School is a private, coeducational, college preparatory and boarding school with a history of academic excellence. Locatedone hour southeast of the nation’s capital, small classes, a variety of activities and the prestigious International Baccalaureate program give domestic and international high school students an unparalleled educational experience.
The beautiful, 153-acre campus has modern facilities including state-of-the art tools in every classroom, a new housing village for boarders, a sports complex with a new turffield (adding to the numerous field and courts), along with a contemporary arts and science center with a bright atrium used as a gallery for students’ works. There are sciencelabs, a library with a reading room, and a theater/auditorium. What’s more, Calverton School provides classrooms with iPads or laptops, and is the only independent school in Southern Maryland to provide campus-wide WiFi to integrate technology into learning.

The goal of the school’s athletics is for every player to reach their full potential—learning to compete, lead and display good sportsmanship. Students in the upper school have the opportunity to choose from numerous arts electives—from basic to advanced levels— to sharpen their aesthetic sensibilities.
