Oakwood Friends School in New York State is the state’s oldest co-educational boarding school. Oakwood is a Quaker school, stressing the values of peace, integrity, equality, community and simplicity. Students learn the value of helping others in the school and local community. Oakwood, established in 1796, offers a challenging college preparatory education to students through Advanced Placement courses, interscholastic sports teams, art classes, and special programs like their robotics and engineering.


Facilities
The campus of Oakwood Friends has excellent facilities, including a library, art studio, ceramics studio, darkroom, Theater, music room, gym, soccer fields, baseball field, softball field, and four tennis courts. In nearby Poughkeepsie, students have access to the excitement of the big city of New York while studying in a peaceful and secure environment.

Sports and Arts
The school seeks to bring out the athlete and artist in each student through its extensive list of teams, clubs, and activities including musical production, photography, skiing, and ultimate frisbee.

Students live in double rooms which have access to one kitchen, two lounges, two TVs, telephones and a computer room in each building. The dormitories also have wireless internet access, washers and dryers.
