Academic English (ESL)

Study Abroad
University Credit Program (UCP) For visiting graduate and undergraduate students:

Students who are interested in studying at UC Riverside from one trimester to one academic year can enroll in the University Credit Program (UCP) for visiting students. UCP provides the opportunity for students to receive transferable credits that they can take back to their home country without having formally applied to a degree program. Visiting students do not need SAT/ACT exam that is required for degree seeking students. The cost of the academic year with UCP is about 50% less expensive than an academic year for degree seeking students. Students have access to 80 undergraduate and 50 graduate programs just like regular students.

University Certificates & Diplomas:
Offering a full range of professional and postgraduate programs, international students have the opportunity to earn a highly valued University of California certificate or diploma, advance their career, and work in the US as part of the Optional Professional Training (OPT) program.

Academic Year Certificate + OPT

For high school graduates, fields include:

Postgraduate Diploma + OPT:

For graduate students, fields include:

One year Postgraduate Diploma Program is divided into 3 quarters. During the first quarter, students study general management. During the second quarter students focus on their specialization, and then the third quarter is a mandatory internship at an American company. After receiving their diploma, students can stay in the USA and work for 12 months within OPT program!

Requirements:

  • TOEFL ibt 80/ IELTS 6.5
  • Bachelor degree (or equivalent combination of academic and management experience), NO GMAT REQUIRED!

Pathways to UC Riverside
Admission Preparation Program (APP)

Program Highlights

  • Prepares international students to succeed in college
  • Provides SAT and TOEFL test preparation
  • 9-month comprehensive program (September start only)
  • 25-30 hours of study each week
  • Opportunity to take university classes at no additional cost

Admission Requirements:

  • Must have completed A-G course requirements and have a minimum GPA 3.4 out of 4.0 (in select courses and as described by UCR Undergraduate Admissions)
  • Advanced English required: minimum TOEFL 530 PBT, 71 iBT; or IELTS 6.0
  • Minimum age: High school graduate
  • Students who wish to apply for APP must already meet the Undergraduate admission Academic Requirements
  • This program is for high school graduates only. Students who have any university courses are not eligible for this program.

ACCOMMODATION AT UC RIVERSIDE
On Campus Housing

Open year-round and located across the street from the UCR Extension Center, the International Village (IV) offers double-occupancy apartments with living rooms and kitchens. All rooms are furnished and air-conditioned and include:

Facilities available to students include a computer lab, fitness gym, billiards room, sports field and basketball court. Laundry facilities are available within the building.

Homestay
The American Family Homestay program is the best opportunity for students to experience American life and customs and to improve their English. Students live in the home of an American family in the Riverside area. All rooms are furnished, single or double-occupancy. 2 meals are provided. Educatius does the background check for all our host families.
