Glendale Community College offers international students superior academic opportunities, unique cultural experiences, and a friendly campus environment. Students enrolling here are able to complete the first two years of an undergraduate bachelor’s degree program in a setting dedicated to quality teaching in small classes. Students receive individual attention from instructors while utilizing advanced technology - all at a cost considerably less than larger four-year institutions. Moreover, Glendale Community College is fully accredited and maintains a close working relationship with all of the major state-supported universities in Arizona, making transfers to those larger institutions easy and convenient.

Glendale Community College (GCC) keeps pace with the constant growth of the West Valley, offering increased breadth and depth of educational opportunity. Each year, more than 40,000 students enroll in dozens of courses and degree and certificate programs at one of two GCC locations, making the College's enrollment the second largest in the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD). Maricopa Community Colleges are accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and are approved by the Arizona State Board of Directors for Community Colleges.

Glendale Community College will prepare students to transfer to other colleges or universities. The International Student Advisors will help you understand the transfer process. Representatives from many of the universities in Arizona visit GCC each semester to meet with students who plan to transfer. Universities in the State of Arizona accept transfer students who have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 2.00 or better.

English as a Second Language (ESL)

Glendale Community College invites student from all over the world to attend the school. Glendale applicants do not need to submit TOEFL score in their admissions application. Students will take an assessment exam to determine their level of English. Students’ skills range from beginner English to those who you like to improve their college writing skills. Glendale Community College offers an Intensive English Program (IEP) and English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. ESL courses cover all aspects such as grammar, pronunciation, writing skulls, reading and speaking, and American culture. Some students can even earn college credit for their courses.

The Intensive English Program (IEP) is designed for international students or local students who need to improve their English language proficiency before undertaking an academic program of study. Students in the IEP will take a combination of English as a second language (ESL) classes appropriate to their level as well composition skills. In addition, students will be scheduled for sessions in the learning assistance center, the computer lab, and the language lab. Altogether, IEP students will be busy studying English for 20-25 hours per week.

Transfer Center

During the 2008-09 school year, almost 2,500 GCC students transferred credits to four year universities. With the help of the University transfer center, students are well advised which courses to take to follow their path to university. Several private and public university representatives visit GCC’s campuses to meet students and answer questions.

As part of Maricopa County Community college District, Glendale offers an Associate in Transfer Partnership which is designed to meet the needs of students transferring to public and private colleges and universities. This degree is developed specifically for students who have an identified major and have selected the baccalaureate degree-granting institution to which they intend to transfer. The Associate in Transfer Partnership degree is an articulated academic program of study established among the student, the accredited baccalaureate degree-granting institution selected by the student, SCC. Students can after completion of the ATP transfer to Arizona State University – Tempe Campus, Arizona State University – West Campus, Northern Arizona University, and University of Arizona. Students also transfer to reputable private colleges which include University of Phoenix, Grand Canyon University, Brigham Young University, Ashford University, Prescott College, Art Institute of Phoenix, Excelsior College, Park University,   Kaplan University.

Glendale Community College offers a student life with all of the academic, social and extracurricular activities you’d expect from an acclaimed educational institution. At GCC, we believe every student can receive a well-rounded education by becoming an active participant in "student life."

At GCC, you can share common interests with other students through a variety of programs, organizations, activities, clubs and more! You’ll meet great people and get practical experience developing skills that go beyond the classroom. Students can choose from a variety of intercollegiate & intramural sports, students clubs and performing arts. And along the way, you’ll create great relationships and memories that will last a lifetime.

Campus /Location

The school is located in Glendale, just northwest of Phoenix, Arizona. Glendale Community College’s 149- acre campus is distinguished by its southwestern architecture and beautiful palm-lined walkways. The mild climate enables students to enjoy informal outdoor social and study areas and large open spaces along the malls. Over 35 buildings on campus feature well equipped laboratories, state-of-the-art lecture halls, informal student areas, and conference facilities. There is also an on-campus exercise facility with a swimming pool, which serves approximately 1,500 students, employees, and community members each semester. The College offers a friendly, welcoming environment for learning.

Glendale was home to Fiesta Bowls and the 2008 Super Bowl and offers residents and students a wide variety of amenities including the famous Historic Downtown shopping district, legendary special events and festivals, museums and cultural attractions, and a growing number of professional sports facilities. Students can visit one of the largest mails in the region Arrowhead Town Center. The mall features water fountains, a hand-carved carousel, a movie theater and more than 170 shops and restaurants.

Because of the beautiful weather, activities can be enjoyed year-round. The average high in Greater Phoenix is 85 degrees and with more than 325 days of sunshine per year, smiles are wide and spirits are high.
