I am Marie, an exchange student from Germany. I am making my exchange year in Bountiful, Utah a beautiful city next to Salt Lake City. I am going to the Bountiful high school as a sophomore.

First of all, I want to thank my parents to give me the opportunity to make an exchange year. My mom she was always there for me and helped me to organize everything like driving 5 hours to Berlin to get my visa. Then there is my dad, along with helping my mom to organize everything he encouraged and studied with me to pass the mandatory exams to become an exchange student. They both are always there for and I am so thankful to have them on my side.

I am thankful for my friends from Germany. They supported me from the first day I told them I am planning on making an exchange year. I appreciate them for looking out for me even if I am on the other side of the world.

Also, I am grateful that my flight was timely, and I arrived safely.

When I arrived, I met my host family for the first time. I was so happy when I saw them. Emily my host mother and Kate my host sister are the best Host family I could have imagined. They both are super funny, open, helpful, intelligent and they have a good attitude. I am so thankful to be in their host family. They both help me to improve my English skills and when I have questions about something in school, they try to explain it to me and help me.

Kate is the funniest person I know. We have so much fun together like making a fashion show, trying to look like the Kardashians getting Coffee. She is really talented in swimming, makeup and hair. She introduced me to all of her friends which was really nice of her. I am so happy to have her as my host sister.

Then there is Emily she is the sweetest person I know. I am so thankful for her. She helped me find opportunities to play tennis and ski weekly.

I am so thankful for both of them. They both make me feel super comfortable and at home. I even daily walk their dog Max. We have already shared a lot of fun experiences together like an American Football Game, a Pumpkin Patch and a daytrip to Park City.

In the first few weeks I had difficulty sleeping. No matter the time day or night I could always rely on my Coordinator Aspen. I am so thankful to know that she is always there for me no matter what time it is. She is constantly organizing activities to help all the exchange students to get better acquainted like experiencing a haunted Forest at Halloween.

I am so thankful that everyone I have met has been welcoming, kind and included me in their activities and fun time.
