Coquitlam, in Metro Vancouver, is a public school district in British Columbia, Canada. In addition to seven foreign language options and ESL, Coquitlam’s varied programs include Advanced Placement, the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma, French Immersion, Sports Academies, and a Confucius Institute. Students in the Coquitlam School District also take part in a large number of extracurricular programs including eSports, Model United Nations, Fly Fishing, and many more. Coquitlam also offer specialty programs for example, an Outdoor Education Experience and a Culinary Arts Program. FACILITIES Schools in the district have the latest equipment in their state-of-the-art labs including their Robotics Labs and Science Labs. Other facilities in the Coquitlam School District are large outdoor athletic fields, modern weight rooms, outdoor swimming pools, tennis courts, outdoor track facilities, new libraries, music rooms, theaters, and large common areas for students to hang out.
SCHOOLS AND ACADEMIES Gulf Islands School District based on Salt Spring Island in British Columbia is home to Gulf Islands Secondary School. Students attending this school district can choose to take part in the French Immersion program. Students also have the opportunity of taking AP Studio Art or AP Literature or can also take Dual Credit courses in both trade and non-trade courses. Students in this district have the opportunity to explore more specialized course options such as leadership and robotics. In this school district students only study for four days a week, meaning that whilst they have a longer school day, meaning that students study for the same amount of time as those in five day schools, Friday is a special day reserved for activities, certificate programs, and allows for students to focus on their passions . The Burnaby School District is a leading Public School District located in the center of Greater Vancouver, only 25 minutes from downtown Vancouver, the Pacific Ocean, and the North Shore Mountains. In addition to foreign languages options and ESL, students choose from a wide variety of courses including Honors courses, Advanced Placement courses, French Immersion, and many elective courses. Burnaby School District has one of the largest AP Programs in all of Canada with courses including Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, Music Theory, and even the AP Capstone Diploma Program.
