Student Life Havant and South Downs College encourages students to become independent adults by taking ownership of their studies and managing their spare time effectively, and this is encouraged by the college’s progressive approach to timetabling. Classes do not start until 10am as academic research shows that teenagers learn better later in the day. Students have 5 hours of teaching time per subject, per week, which is more than any other college in the local area. Staff always devise timetables with student feedback and needs in mind, so study time is scheduled into the day, thus giving students who are well-organised the chance to keep evenings free for extra-curricular activities and socialising.
