The college offers a mixture of academic and vocational courses and students are involved in many activities designed to broaden their education with the E6 programme. The E6 programme is unique to Portsmouth College and offers a 6-strand initiative focusing on Enterprise, Employability, Experience, Extension, Exercise and Exploration. The college innovates with the use of iPads in lessons and offers a wide range of courses from immersive one-term placements through to full-time A level study programmes. Students at Portsmouth College receive first-class teaching which leads to fantastic exam results.
Sports & Arts
The College Sports Academy runs not only the traditional team sports in areas like football, rugby, hockey, netball, badminton and basketball, but also a range of exercise classes and individual participation sports such as Zumba, futsal, table tennis and boxercise. The Portsmouth College Football Academy has won competitions both locally and abroad, and the Elite Football qualification gives students who are already playing at club level the chance to broaden their skills and understanding. Students who are interested in music and the performing arts also have a whole host of opportunities available to them at the college, including learning an instrument, making use of the college recording studio and taking part in the Rock Challenge.
Portsmouth College has a progressive timetable which runs from 9.55am – 4pm, with one lesson in the morning and one in the afternoon, allowing for deeper learning. Lunch is at the same time for every student, no matter what they study, which means everyone has more time to catch up with friends. Portsmouth College has a dedicated International Team and a dedicated Welfare Team, who support international students throughout their stay at the college and ensure they settle into the college community with ease.
