It is impossible to believe March is coming to an end. With that being said, just a small reminder that Graduation is less than two months away and not to mention Prom is next month!!! Time truly flies when you are having a good time and when you are far away from home.
"Enjoy every moment like it is your last.” That phrase was my motto I lived by this past year.
It's a great challenge for international students to leave their home and comfort zone. But living with an American host family will leave you with a lot of good memories. Today let me share with you my tips from living with host families for three years in American high schools!
What is the most important factor for international students when selecting a US high school to apply to?

Food is important when studying abroad. Today, I will give you an introduction to American foods you need to try while abroad.
Saline High School is a co-ed public high school located in Saline, Michigan, 1 hour from Detroit. With a focus on STEAM, the school offers international students many opportunities, including the FIRST Robotics Competition, Destination Imagination, Science Olympiad, and Project Lead the Way - Medical and Engineering. FACILITIES The school has a 3 story auditorium, music practice rooms, computer room, and a well-equipped library. The athletic facilities at the school include a football field, a pool, an indoor gymnasium, a weight room, a gymnastic practice room, and a wrestling room. SPORTS AND ARTS Offering many team sports, students can take part in football, cheerleading, basketball, equestrian, skiing and more. With a variety of fine arts courses, students join subjects like painting, jewelry-making, and pottery. Around 40% of the students participate in musical ensembles, including band, orchestra, choir, jazz band, and musicals. The marching band has even performed at Carnegie
Rochester Community Schools is one of the premier public school districts, in Michigan Each of the high schools offers a full complement of courses including Advanced Placement, the arts, and career/technical classes. Two Rochester Community Schools have been awarded Gold and Silver Medals by US News & World Report. FACILITIES All three high schools are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and modern classrooms for students to use. SPORTS AND ARTS Students interested in sports can join a variety of sports programs, including Competitive Cheerleading, Wrestling, and Skiing. With an award winning arts program, students can participate in both curricular and extracurricular activities such as 2-D and 3-D Design, Photography, Drama, and more! Scottsdale Unified School District is one of the best in the state; five of its high schools accept international high school students. The district offers award-winning arts programs and STEM programs. Scottsdale high schools provide a comprehensive American experience. FACILITIES Many of the district’s impressive campus facilities have been recently updated and feature modern computer labs, theaters, career centers, athletic facilities, and production labs. SPORTS AND ARTS Competitive sports teams in the district including soccer and baseball have won a total of five state championships in the last two years. State regulations allow international students in grades 9-11 to participate in any Junior Varsity (JV) sports teams. Students have ample opportunities for creative growth including an award-winning advertising and media arts programs, an award-winning theater program, and a culinary arts career education program.
