It's a great challenge for international students to leave their home and comfort zone. But living with an American host family will leave you with a lot of good memories. Today let me share with you my tips from living with host families for three years in American high schools!

What is the most important factor for international students when selecting a US high school to apply to?

Las Virgenes Unified School District proudly hosts some of the best high schools in California. The district's high schools have an impressive 94% of students accepted to college. The district is located only 20 minutes from Malibu’s prestigious Pepperdine University. FACILITIES The high school campuses take advantage of the year-round sunny, temperate weather with grassy quads and outdoor park-like settings. Facilities include athletic stadiums, Olympic-style pools, and media and performing arts centers. SPORTS AND ARTS The rigorous athletics program has produced athletes that have gone on to participate at the collegiate, professional, and even Olympic level. One of the high schools has an especially strong wrestling program, with the team qualifying for the divisional championships 21 years in a row. With over 168,000 students, Los Angeles Unified School District is the 2nd largest in the country. Four of their public high schools accept international students. The district’s outstanding academics have earned it a California Gold Ribbon Award. Schools in the district offer a combined 14 foreign languages and over 40 AP courses as well as honors options. FACILITIES Los Angeles Unified School District’s recent improvements to their campus facilities include new or upgraded sports complexes, outdoor communal areas and quads, and state-of-the-art learning and performing arts centers. Located in a quiet community, Whittier Christian High School is situated half an hour from the city of Los Angeles and 40 minutes from the beaches of California. It offers a 1:1 iPad Instructional Program and the flexibility of five academic tracks. FACILITIES The 20-acre campus includes a gymnasium, state-of-the-art e-Sports Room, STEM Lab, digital art labs, an academic research center, a multi-purpose auditorium, and athletic fields for football, soccer, baseball and softball.
