It's a great challenge for international students to leave their home and comfort zone. But living with an American host family will leave you with a lot of good memories. Today let me share with you my tips from living with host families for three years in American high schools!

El Camino Real Charter High School offers over 20 AP courses along with dual enrollment and honors options. It also offers a variety of academic opportunities such as the Careers in Entertainment Academy, the Fashion and Design Academy, the Junior Engineering Technical Society (STEM), and the award-winning Academic Decathlon team. BASIS Scottsdale is a competitive, high-caliber high school. Ranked the #3 high school in the USA by US News and World Report, it was established in 2003 to provide students with an internationally-competitive curriculum that will prepare them for whatever they choose to pursue. FACILITIES Located in downtown Scottsdale on 10 acres, BASIS Scottsdale’s new facilities opened for the 2016-17 school year. The school features state-of-the-art classrooms, laboratories, a basketball court, and performing arts facilities. SPORTS AND ARTS There are a number of opportunities for BASIS Scottsdale students to express themselves outside of the classroom. The school offers a number of different sports for both boys and girls throughout fall, winter, and spring. Students in grades 9-11 can participate in sports. With over 168,000 students, Los Angeles Unified School District is the 2nd largest in the country. Four of their public high schools accept international students. The district’s outstanding academics have earned it a California Gold Ribbon Award. Schools in the district offer a combined 14 foreign languages and over 40 AP courses as well as honors options. FACILITIES Los Angeles Unified School District’s recent improvements to their campus facilities include new or upgraded sports complexes, outdoor communal areas and quads, and state-of-the-art learning and performing arts centers. SPORTS AND ARTS The district’s championships teams compete in a variety of sports including golf, soccer, American football, and water polo. The All District High School Honor Band is world renowned, drawing the finest musicians from its individual high school band programs.
