It's a great challenge for international students to leave their home and comfort zone. But living with an American host family will leave you with a lot of good memories. Today let me share with you my tips from living with host families for three years in American high schools!

Founded in 1955, Marian High School is an all-girls, college preparatory, school. Located in Omaha, Nebraska, the school offers a rigorous academic curriculum that includes STEM and AP courses. Marian is also considered a leader in girls education with 100% college acceptance rate among graduating seniors. FACILITIES In August of 2019 the school will open a dedicated academic center in the heart of the campus. Other facilities include newly renovated science labs, two gymnasiums and updated sports facilities, and an award-winning performing arts center. Founded in 1958, Our Lady of Good Counsel High School is the top ranked coeducational Catholic High School in the Washington DC area. It has won the prestigious US Blue Ribbon Educational Award twice and named one of “the Most Challenging High Schools in the USA” by the Washington Post in 2017. Currently enrolled are 1,250 young men and women from grades 9 to 12, including less than 4% of international students. We have attracted students from France, Germany, Austria, Iran, Mexico, India, Brazil, Vietnam, Turkey, India, Liberia and China. Students find success in the International Baccalaureate, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), Fine Arts, and College Preparatory programs. FACILITIES The facilities include a 650-seat Performing Arts Center, 51 acres of athletic fields, 10 science labs, a dance studio, a chapel, two weight rooms, two gyms, a football stadium with a turf field, multiple soccer and baseball fields, and 50 classrooms wired with Apple TV / Smart Boards.

The distinguished district has some of the best schools in California and offers unique academic programs such as STEM and engineering, veterinary studies, and agriculture. The district boasts test scores and graduation rates that exceed state and national averages as well as over 35 AP options. International students make up 2% of the student body. FACILITIES The district’s high school campuses have large-scale athletic facilities, including fields for football, baseball, and soccer; synthetic running tracks; gymnasiums; and aquatic centers. Campuses have an extensive network of computer labs. One high school offers agriculture students access to a working farm.
