Founded in 1831, The Grand River Academy is a boy’s boarding school with a proven program for success. Through daily help sessions, supervised evening study, and afternoon sports and activities, students gain self-discipline and a renewed interest in academics. The curriculum is college-preparatory and in order to graduate, college
acceptance is a requirement. Students benefit from personal interaction with their teachers, which is made possible by enrolling less than 120 students and an average class size of seven students.
Students have access to a weight room, a basketball court, an indoor batting cage, an updated fitness room, a library, and a lecture center. At the Student Center students can get snacks at Andy’s Café, play ping pong, shuffleboard, play music in the music room, billiards, and more.

What makes Grand River Academy’s sports teams special is their no-cut policy. They will find a spot for anyone who would like to participate. For students looking to explore their creativity, Grand River has a distinct arts program with courses like videography, web design and ceramics.
DORMITORIES AND STUDENT LIFE
Grand River has four dorms that can house their entire student population on campus. Each dormitory has a large common room where students can relax or watch TV. Dorm parents live in apartments attached to the dorms. It is common for dorm parents to celebrate birthdays with students, have dorm parties, game nights, and other activities.

SCHOOL PROFILE Founded in 1963, Lake Ridge Academy is the only independent college preparatory school on Cleveland’s west side. It offers students numerous Advanced Placement and Honors courses and a number of unique programs and like Entrepreneurial Studies Program, Anatomy and Physiology, or Developmental Biology and Embryology. They also offer independent studies in subjects like Multivariable Calculus. FACILITIES The 93 acre campus includes a garden, a brand new science and engineering building, a gymnasium, a weight/workout facility, and outside sports amenities. The community resource center on campus includes a library and technology center, multi-media conference room, study rooms, project rooms, foreign language classrooms, computer labs, and a TV/video broadcast editing room. SPORTS AND ARTS Lake Ridge Academy offers a variety of sports for students of various ability levels. About 70% of students participate in the interscholastic sports program, and every year students go on to play in college. The arts program gives students many opportunities; students who take visual arts to study drama, direct and perform in plays, and have the chance to work with professional actors. COMMUNITY INFORMATION The school is located in North Ridgeville Ohio, a suburb 30 minutes west of Cleveland and eight miles south of Lake Erie.
The Storm King School
SCHOOL PROFILE Founded in 1867, The Storm King School (SKS) is a private, independent, college pre- paratory boarding school. Located at the peak of Storm King Mountain in the Hudson River Valley, SKS is just about an hour north of New York City. SPORTS AND ARTS Personal growth is encouraged through championship athletics (19 sports teams and clubs) and a superb arts program including performing, visual, digital, and fine arts. The soccer program has been particularly successful for both the girls and boy’s teams. Six SKS teams (soccer, cross-country running, basketball, lacrosse, tennis, wrestling) won HVAL championships in recent years, plus the sportsmanship award, and the boys basketball team even won the New England Prep School Athletic Championship. The MacDuffie School
SCHOOL PROFILE The MacDuffie School offers students unique academic programs such as their Leadership Program, developed by a professor from the Cornell University Graduate School of Management. MacDuffie's science department has partnerships with UMass Amherst's Polymer Science Lab and the Harvard University Science Department. The school also has guaranteed admission agreements with Wentworth Institute of Technology and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. FACILITIES The MacDuffie School's new 50-acre campus features state of the art technology in each building. A new artificial turf field and baseball field were added this past year. The school is also in the process of building a new Creativity Center. SPORTS AND ARTS The MacDuffie School has a longstanding reputation as a fierce intercollegiate athletic competitor. The school has recently won championships in soccer, basketball, volleyball, badminton, and cross country. The girls soccer team reached a record 45-game win streak and has won three of the last four New England Championships. The MacDuffie School has a very strong arts program, students have several academic opportunities including drama, in which students write and perform their own original one-act plays each spring. DORMITORIES AND STUDENT LIFE Boarding students take advantage of the school's New England campus each weekend with activities such as apple picking, skiing, and trips to Boston and local colleges and universities.
