Grand River Academy
School DescriptionSCHOOL PROFILE
Founded in 1831, The Grand River Academy is a boy’s boarding school with a proven program for success. Through daily help sessions, supervised evening study, and afternoon sports and activities, students gain self-discipline and a renewed interest in academics. The curriculum is college-preparatory and in order to graduate, college
acceptance is a requirement. Students benefit from personal interaction with their teachers, which is made possible by enrolling less than 120 students and an average class size of seven students.
Students have access to a weight room, a basketball court, an indoor batting cage, an updated fitness room, a library, and a lecture center. At the Student Center students can get snacks at Andy’s Café, play ping pong, shuffleboard, play music in the music room, billiards, and more.
SPORTS AND ARTS
What makes Grand River Academy’s sports teams special is their no-cut policy. They will find a spot for anyone who would like to participate. For students looking to explore their creativity, Grand River has a distinct arts program with courses like videography, web design and ceramics.
DORMITORIES AND STUDENT LIFE
Grand River has four dorms that can house their entire student population on campus. Each dormitory has a large common room where students can relax or watch TV. Dorm parents live in apartments attached to the dorms. It is common for dorm parents to celebrate birthdays with students, have dorm parties, game nights, and other activities.
