Located in the Connecticut River Valley, Northampton High School is one of Western Massachusetts’ premier educational institutions. It has an extensive range of successful athletic teams, diverse visual and performing arts opportunities, and opportunity for juniors and seniors to take college-level courses nearby.

 

Facilities
The school has state-of-the-art classrooms which boast the latest technologies, a gymnasium, and a 700-seat proscenium theater. Outside, Northampton High School has a number of athletic venues, including an eight-lane outdoor track and a number of fields.

Sports and Arts
Northampton High School offers 14 varsity sports throughout three seasons. The Blue Devils have a traditionally strong girl's basketball program, winning the Division I State Championship in 2008, as well as powerhouse cross-country and track and field programs.

In addition to the main theater, the school also has a new Black Box theater and a third “Little Theater.” In charge of the theater program is Stephen Eldredge, a renowned actor and director who has extensive experience in a variety of cities, including New York.

Awards and Accomplishments
In addition to boasting high average scores on standardized tests, 80 percent of Northampton High School students go on to college or university following graduation. Moreover, 75 percent of students take at least one AP class, and the school offers 13 AP and nine honors-level courses.

Community Information
Part of New England’s “Knowledge Corridor,” Northampton is the county seat of Hampshire County, Massachusetts. It is also home to Smith College, an all-women’s college which is one of the foremost higher education institutions in the United States. Northampton features a number of artists, academics, and musicians, resulting in a unique, eclectic blend of creativity.

Northampton is located an hour and 45 minutes west of Boston, and is also less than an hour from Hartford, Connecticut. Boston is accessible by car or Peter Pan bus, while Hartford can be reached by car or Amtrak train.
