Private Day School
Meoncross is a co-educational UK private day school located in Fareham in the southern county of Hampshire. The school is very close to a beautiful stretch of coastline which offers sweeping views over the Solent towards the Isle of Wight, the New Forest and Southampton. The school has a high level of academic excellence, the recent GCSE and A-Level results were well above the national average (97% of GCSE candidates achieved 5 A*-C grades compared to 66% as a national average). Class sizes are small enough to be individualised by large enough to provide a good social and academic mix. The school strives to be a close-knit community and this is commented on by visitors.
The sixth form at Meoncross only recently opened in 2015 and offers students some excellent facilities including a new 2.5 hectare sports field, modern scientific labs and excellent language and technical blocks. In addition the school is just 1 mile from the coast so the school has an innovative Beach School built into its curriculum including lessons taken outside on the beach, rowing clubs, beach art and ornithology.
Sports and Arts
Meoncross offers a wide range of extracurricular activities throughout the school year at lunchtimes or after school. Students are encouraged to participate in at least one activity each week. Sports available for students include football, rowing, netball, hockey, rugby and cricket. Opportunities for musical expression flood the school and extend from choir, saxophone group, orchestra and drumming. Drama is also well represented, with a weekly drama club, and annual productions which includes both a Shakespeare in the autumn, and a musical in the summer.
