How to become a Host Family

What does it take to become a Host Family in the UK and Ireland? 

Basic Requirements

  • A genuine willingness to share your daily life with an international student
  • An English-speaking environment
  • A bedroom for the student, with their own bed, desk and wardrobe. Provide 3 balanced meals a day (packed lunches Monday to Friday).
  • Pass a home interview and a criminal background check (DBS check in the UK / Garda Police Check in Ireland)

Our Host Families Receive: 

  • Host family orientation - our local liaison officers will talk you and your student through the steps of a successful hosting experience
  • 24/7 support 
  • Monthly stipend per student to offset the cost of hosting one of our international students
  • Host family social events - meet other families in the area
