Established in 1928, Valley Forge Military Academy is built on five main cornerstones: academic excellence, character development, personal motivation, physical development, and leadership. Cadets are able to obtain college credit while studying. Famous author of Catcher in the Rye, J.D. Salinger, graduated from Valley Forge.

Valley Forge’s 100-acre campus is a short ride from Philadelphia and features new tennis courts, basketball courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a fully equipped weight room with brand new state-of-the-art workout equipment, meeting rooms, and the L. Maitland Blank Hall of Fame.

VFMA has a strong athletic reputation and has gained national recognition in sports. Many alumni have gone on to play at the collegiate level. Larry Fitzgerald of the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals graduated from Valley Forge in 2002.
Students can take part in unique opportunities such as VFMA’s competitive military band or the Field Music Drums Unit.

Boarding cadets follow a structured daily schedule supervised by Tactical Officers and are housed two per dormitory room. On weekends, students can travel a short distance to the historic city of Philadelphia, attend a monthly Chapel service, or attend on-campus movie nights.
