The Phelps School
School DescriptionLocated less than an hour from historic Philadelphia, The Phelps School’s small student body ensures intimate class sizes and a low teacher to student ratio of only 1:4. Phelps offers a variety of academic opportunities including classes in health/fitness, environmental science, forensics, Python programming, and even a dual-enrollment courses with Immaculata University and the University of Pittsburgh. Dual-enrollment is open to junior, senior and PG students.
The campus’ academic and administrative buildings are located a short walk from the dormitories, while athletes have access to facilities such as a new athletic center, soccer and lacrosse fields, all-weather tennis courts, a running track, a basketball court, a fitness and weight room and a wrestling room.
SPORTS AND ARTS
The 2015 Phelps School basketball team won the PAISSA state championship. The school’s new athletic center features a 500-seat competition gymnasium.
Students interested in the arts can take courses such as ceramics and studio art.
DORMITORIES AND STUDENT LIFE
Boarding students at Phelps stay in one of four dormitories located on campus. Members of the staff and faculty live in the dorms as house parents, and older students assist as proctors. On weekends, students can participate in activities and trips such as professional sporting events, college fairs, movie screenings, school dances and more.
