High schools for international students

Our portfolio includes more than 350 prestigious high schools, each carefully selected based on our experience with what international students value. We’ve been partnering with high schools in the USA and worldwide for 20 years. By collaborating with our schools throughout each student's lifecycle, we ensure that students are prepared and happy with their choices. While the schools focus on academic excellence, Educatius takes care of the rest.

HIGHLIGHT INFO

SCHOOL PROFILE
The Ecole d’Humanité is a progressive boarding school with both American and Swiss academic programs. The school’s founders, Paul and Edith Geheeb, were prominent figures in the progressive education movement in the first half of the twentieth century. Approximately 140 students are enrolled in grades 6 - 13, with 46 in the college-preparatory American program (grades 9 – 12). Students in the American program graduate with an American High School Diploma and can choose to take the courses and exams leading to the Advanced Placement International Diploma (APID). 95% of American program graduates go on to 4-year colleges in the US or universities in the UK and Switzerland. Today 55% of the students are Swiss, 5% are German, 15% are US citizens, and the rest come from 18 other countries. 13% of students are non-Caucasian. 28% of students receive financial aid.

CURRICULUM
Students work intensively in small classes (teacher-student ratio is 1:5) which meet six days a week for 60 to 75 minutes. They take only three academic subjects at a time, typically completing a year’s work in a given subject in one or two trimesters.
No grades are given and written reports are not regularly sent home. Instead, students receive extensive, personalized feedback from their teachers.

CERTIFIED OUTDOOR PROGRAM
Our 4- and 6-day hikes, as well as our rock climbing, alpine climbing, and ski touring courses are all led by teachers who are externally certified as outdoor leaders or are qualified Swiss mountain guides. Our risk management, review, and assessment procedures are thorough and detailed. As a result of these innovations, the Ecole recently became the first and only school in Switzerland with an outdoor program certified by Safety in Adventures. Last year over 40% of our students participated in climbing and/or ski-touring courses, and everyone went on the 4- and 6- day hikes.

ECOLITERACY PROGRAM
Includes two large school gardens and a goat farm, a sophisticated composting system, container gardens, internships, a farm-stand as well as a host of other student-run initiatives. Through a variety of academic classes and extra-curricular projects, students and teachers directly experience the joys and challenges of local food production as well as ecological design and management.

DORMITORIES AND SCHOOL RESIDENCE
Students’ rooms are simple and pragmatically furnished. Hardly any two look the same, and this diversity reflects the makeup of our school. Almost all rooms are doubles. Roommates have the freedom to decide together how to set up their rooms.
