Georgiana Bruce Kirby Preparatory High School is located two hours south of San Francisco in one of the most picturesque beach towns in the US. A private, independent day school, it offers 15 Honors and Advanced Placement Courses, including four intensive paths in art, science and technology, humanities, and languages.
The one-acre campus features a printing press for book making, an audio engineering lab,with recording studios, and a photography dark room. It has large music room and art rooms, plus dance, drama and ceramics studios, as well.
SPORTS AND ARTS
Students are encouraged to be physically active. More than half the students participate in athletics—both traditional and non-traditional sports like mountain biking, surfing, sailing, and ultimate frisbee. Georgiana has a stellar fine arts program with facilities to aid students in their creativity whether they join fine arts courses or clubs after school.
AWARDS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS
In 2006, Georgiana Bruce Kirby Preparatory High School was named the “Best in the World” in Advanced Placement Art History for a school of its size. The school newspaper is regularly recognized for its quality by the Columbia School of Journalism, the National Scholastic Press Association and Quill & Scroll.
