Founded in 1850 as California’s first independent school, San Domenico School is located on 515 acres just outside of San Francisco. Students can choose from unique electives such as flute choir, mystery and crime, and hip hop dance. The school features 15 different competitive sports, 15 AP courses, and an iPad for every student.

The solar-powered campus features an athletic center, performing arts center, swimming pool, tennis courts, an equestrian center, and an acre-large organic garden. The San Domenico Music Conservatory boasts more than 30 professional music faculty.

San Domenico School offers 15 different competitive sports and over 75% of students
participate in extracurricular athletics. State regulations in California can cause some restrictions for international students playing Varsity-level sports at their school. Please contact us for details.
San Domenico is a recognized name in music, digital arts, performing arts, and visual arts. Students can take advanced classes such as broadcasting or participate in the specialized Virtuoso Program, an advanced classical string study track.

San Domenico School has received the Green Ribbon School award from the US Department of Education for its sustainability efforts. Three student filmmakers came in first place in the Lark Theater Student Showcase, and the school’s Orchestra Da Camera is a three-time Festival Grand Champion and first place String Orchestra at the ASTA National Orchestra Festival.

Boarding students eat meals prepared with fresh ingredients from the on-campus organic farm. Students participate in weekend outings and gather in dorm lounges with couches, working fireplaces, and more.
