Steamboat Mountain School is partnered with the third-largest ski mountain in Colorado, Steamboat Mountain. Its competitive ski and snowboard programs have produced dozens of Olympians, and its outdoor experiential learning program combined with challenging college-preparatory coursework gets students out of the classroom.
The 140-acre campus is surrounded by two million mountainous acres. Steamboat’s campus features science and computer labs, a library, an art studio, a theater, and a greenhouse. Recreational facilities include a skiing field, a skateboarding half-pipe, a gymnasium, fitness equipment, bikes, a basketball court, and a climbing wall.
SPORTS AND ARTS
All students participate in an experiential outdoor program that offers kayaking, rock and ice climbing, backpacking, mountain biking, canoeing, camping, skiing, and snowboarding. Many of Steamboat Mountain School’s students ski or ride competitively in partnership with the award-winning Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club.
Students may enroll in courses to learn or improve basic media and artistic techniques such as drawing and painting, mosaics, murals, sculpture, photography, and graphic design are introduced in class.
AWARDS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS
In 2017, Steamboat Mountain School was named a Best Private High School in Colorado. 30 alumni have been members of the US Olympic ski, snowboarding, or X Games teams, two of whom have won Olympic medals.
