Verde Valley School

Private Day School – Sedona , Arizona

Verde Valley School (VVS) is an international college preparatory boarding and day school offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB Programme) as its sole curriculum. The school is dedicated to the highest ethical and academic standards while teaching languages and cross-cultural communication, anthropology and responsibility, biology and environmentalism, and the arts through self expression. VVS was founded in 1948 by two Harvard-trained anthropologists. Today, about half of the student body is comprised of international students from 17 countries. VVS offers a truly global educational experience. The beautiful and temperate environment allows a year-round outdoor sports program that includes horse-back riding, mountain biking, rock climbing, cross-country running, soccer, golf, and more.

Academic and Sport Facilities
Twelve classrooms, two science labs, one computer lab, performing arts hall, recording studio and library. VVS offers an excellent fitness center, climbing wall, mountain bike pump track, equestrian stable, riding ring, basketball court, tennis court, soccer field.

Dormitories and Student Residences
VVS works very hard to make student living spaces their home away from home. Each dorm has between 3 and 5 dorm parents, who are also teachers and coaches at VVS. There is also a full-time security officer available on campus from 10 pm to 5 am, seven days a week. Each dorm offers red rock views, shared common spaces (some with a fireplace) and laundry facilities. While the dorms are divided by gender, student members of all grades are integrated into each dorm. Each room is equipped with a bed, dresser, desk and closet for each student.

Location
Sedona has been called the most beautiful tourist destination in the U.S. and one of the six most romantic locales in the world. Its towering Red Rocks are truly unique. Its full-time population of 11,000 triples during peak spring and fall tourist seasons. Sedona is 4,200 feet above sea level and 90 minutes by car north of Phoenix, a major metropolitan area.
