Fryeburg Academy, founded in 1792, is a historic yet vibrant boarding school located in a classic New England village. The school’s specialized programs give students unique
opportunities to grow, like the Film Making Program taught by a director who formerly worked at MGM in Hollywood. Accelerated programs are offered in mathematics, English,
science, history, foreign language, and music. The math program has won many state and regional championships.
The large campus has many new facilities. Personalized amenities meet the needs of the students including Goldberg Art Gallery and a state of the art Performing Arts Centerwhere there are 80 school and local performances each year.
SPORTS AND ARTS
Fryeburg has over 20 varsity sports. The nordic ski program is exceptional, having recently won the state championship and graduates having gone on to compete in the Olympics.
International students are encouraged to take part in the award-winning theater and music programs. Music students participate in a national competition hosted by Berklee
School of Music and they are class “A” champions in vocal jazz and big band, making it one of the best music programs in the USA.
DORMITORIES AND STUDENT LIFE
There are five Dormitories (3 boys’ residences and 2 girls’ residences) at Fryeburg Academy. All dormitories have a common area with a TV, DVD player and computers available
for student use.
Location Fryeburg is a small town about one hour east of Portland. Life is simple and quiet and the people are very friendly and helpful. It is a good environment for studying. There are a few pizza parlors and grocery store for students to purchase food/items. Fryeburg Academy also offers a weekly trip into North Conway, New Hampshire to shop at larger stores for supplies.
