West Catholic High School is a college preparatory school, honored since 2007 as one of the top Catholic high schools in the United States by the Cardinal Newman Society. West Catholic has also been named one of the most challenging private schools in the United States by the Washington Post three years running. Students choosing to continue their education will graduate from colleges and universities at a rate that ranks among the best of all high schools.
West Catholic is located on a sprawling 42-acre campus in the northwest corner of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Nestled in trees, the campus hosts beautifully updated athletic facilities and an on-site observatory, developed and designed by the 2012-2013 pre-engineering class. The school will also complete a brand new Academic Learning Center in Fall 2017.
SPORTS AND ARTS
West Catholic’s athletic program provides comprehensive opportunities with over 20 varsity sports, enabling student-athletes to experience growth in mind, body and spirit.West Catholic art students are offered several choices of electives. The award-winning marching band performs many times throughout the year at festivals, parades, and sporting events. West Catholic Theater also performs three plays each year, including a spring musical.
AWARDS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS
The West Catholic American Football team has won the Division 5 State Title in American Football for the fifth year in a row in 2017.
Grand Rapids is a 40-minute drive from the beach and Lake Michigan, one of the largest freshwater bodies in the world. Surrounded by agricultural areas that allow blueberry picking and apple picking in the summer and fall, Grand Rapids also has a ski slope on the outskirts of the city, allowing for skiing and tubing in the winter, as well as 15 colleges and universities, making it possible for students to come here for high school and stay for university.

SCHOOL PROFILE Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School was founded in 1906 as the first Catholic co-educational school in the nation. With Honors and AP-level courses, a 1:1 iPad program, and dual-enrollment offered on-campus through nearby Aquinas College, students have endless opportunities to learn in a variety of ways. FACILITIES Located near the Division and Wealthy Street intersection, Catholic Central is comprised of three buildings, with a pedestrian mall and ample parking for students and guests. SPORTS AND ARTS Catholic Central has a tradition of athletic excellence, with boy’s soccer taking home conference titles, boy’s tennis advancing to the quarterfinals, and girl’s cross country and swimming placing in the top five in their conferences. There are a number of ways to engage in the arts, as well. Students can take part in a variety of fine and performing arts opportunities, including band, chorus, drawing, and studio art. COMMUNITY INFORMATION Catholic Central is situated in the heart of Grand Rapids, Michigan, a city of 190,000 people located 30 miles from Lake Michigan. The second-largest city in Michigan, Grand Rapids was named the No. 1 US Travel Destination by Lonely Planet in 2014. There are a number of concert venues, theaters, and sports stadiums in Grand Rapids, including minor-league baseball, ice hockey, and basketball teams.
Dewitt High School
Dewitt High School has excellent academics, a number of extracurricular activities, and plenty of athletic and art opportunities. The school offers dual-credit enrollment with local community colleges, as well as Michigan State University, and it’s also the home to the DeWitt Creativity Group, an inclusive group which encourages students to innovate through projects in the arts, entrepreneurship, and STEM. FACILITIES The high school has state-of-the-art classrooms, as well as an indoor pool and gymnasium. Its outdoor athletic facilities are impressive, too, featuring new tennis courts, the Dewitt Memorial Stadium, and an all-weather running track. SPORTS AND ARTS Athletics are very much part of the DeWitt High School culture. Football games routinely draw large crowds, and it is common for members of the community to show up and support the school’s athletic teams. The school has plenty of ways for students to express themselves artistically. Pottery and sculpture are two of the more unique offerings, while other opportunities include 3-D art, theater, visual art, and web design. COMMUNITY INFORMATION A small city north of Lansing, DeWitt is home to approximately 4,500 residents. It was ranked in the Top 100 Places to Live in the USA by CNN Money.
Dexter Community Public School
Dexter High School is a four-year comprehensive high school. Ranked as a top 40 school by US News and World Report, in Michigan, over 80% of teachers and professional staff hold advanced degrees. The Journalism, Debate, Forensics, Robotics, and Quiz Bowl clubs have also won awards in state and national competitions. FACILITIES Established in 2002, the school has modern classrooms and is connected to the Dexter Center for the Performing Arts. SPORTS AND ARTS Dexter Community Schools compete in the Southeastern Conference of the MHSAA. A strong athletics program, the boys swim team has won the Lower Peninsula Division 2 title in 2012, 2016, and 2017. The school also has a number of arts programs. Students can join many art and music clubs as well as participate in drama productions. COMMUNITY INFORMATION Dexter, Michigan, is a suburban community that is 45 minutes west of Detroit. The area is home to several colleges, including The University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan University, and Washtenaw Community College. The area is also surrounded by parks and lakes for outdoor activities.
