Rutgers Preparatory School (RPS), in Somerset, New Jersey, is a coeducational day school. The school enrolls students from diverse geographic, economic, social, and ethnic backgrounds. RPS’s faculty are selected for deep knowledge of their subjects and excellence in teaching. Of the 87 members of the full-time faculty, 61% have post graduate degrees. Rutgers Preparatory School offers a full college preparatory and Advanced Placement curriculum. Virtually all graduates go on to four-year colleges immediately upon graduation.
The Facilities include an art studio, a traditional photography room, a digital photography room, 12 sets of turntable for ceramics, the library, computer rooms, 6 science labs, a music building. The athletic facilities include 2 gyms, a track field, a multi-functional sports field, soccer/hockey fields, a baseball field, and a croquet field.
SPORTS AND ARTS
The school fields 33 sports teams with approximately 80 percent of students participating in some form of organized athletics on the junior varsity or varsity level. A broad arts program is offered with courses in visual arts, choral and instrumental music, and drama. Students participate in several performances each year.
The safe community of Somerset offers students an opportunity to visit historical sights, enjoy parks and recreational areas and shopping. The metropolitan area of Central New Jersey, near Rutgers University, and accessibility to New York City offer students additional educational and cultural experiences.
