To be honest, I prefer the Canadian way of educating high schoolers better, but I also believe both education systems are some of the best in the world.
I wished I had a list of things I needed to bring to not forget anything. Now, I am in Canada and I am writing this to help future study abroad students.
SCHOOLS AND ACADEMIES Medicine Hat School District is located in Southeastern Alberta, and is home to 65,000 people. In addition to three foreign language options and ESL support, students can also choose a wide variety of courses including AP Classes in Math, English, and Social Studies, and students can also get involved in a variety of extracurriculars ranging from Art Club and Drama Club to International Club, Comic Book Club, and Rotary Club. Students also have the opportunity to take joint classes with Medicine Hat College. FACILITIES Students in Medicine Hat School District can make use of the newly built Indoor Running Track. Facilities also include gymnasiums, theatres, and a learning commons. SPORTS AND ARTS Medicine Hat School District has a strong sports program - with the Track and Field team reaching the provincial championships two years in a row. Alberta is renowned for its high quality of education, ranking No. 2 in the world in both reading and science scores, and in the top 12 for math. Schools in this district offer various unique programs such as sports academies, specialty skills programs, French immersion Program, and AP courses. FACILITIES Students at Edmonton Public Schools have access to facilities such as ice rinks, swimming pools, curling arenas, golf courses, and private fitness facilities. Further facilities include computer labs, drama theaters, music labs, language labs, fabrication design studios, large gymnasiums, food labs, and art studios. SPORTS AND ARTS Students can choose from a variety of sports programs at each school. Students have access to ESL learning resources and can also take part in the available athletic and fine arts programs offered at many schools. Students have access to an indoor swimming pool, as well as other sports facilities such as football fields, and fine art facilities including theatres. SPORTS AND ARTS Students can participate at the junior varsity or varsity level in sports such as volleyball, soccer, and football. During their time at Golden Hills, students have the opportunity to take part in choir, band, fine arts, and more.
