Based in the beautiful coastal city of Vancouver in British Columbia, Vancouver School Board's International Education Program gives students from outside of Canada the opportunity to study at a local school, to graduate with a Grade 12 diploma, or to study at summer school.
The Vancouver School Board accepts applications from qualified international students and offers support to students including orientation for new students, English as a Second Language courses, multilingual district staff, district student excursions and access to Vancouver city’s multilingual medical practitioners. Students with strong academic achievement may study Advanced Placement courses in calculus, computer studies, literature, history and sciences at some schools.
Students have access to on-campus hockey facilities, as well as gymnasiums, libraries, theatres and more!
SPORTS AND ARTS
In addition to a Hockey Academy, for students looking to improve their ice hockey skills, students can take part in a number of sports ranging from table tennis, to volleyball, and ultimate frisbee.
Students can also develop their interest in the arts with various elective courses including band, theatre, photography, and art.
With its mild climate, and easy access to both the ocean and the mountains, Vancouver is a great city with plenty to do for international students.
Based only an hour and a half from Whistler ski resort, during the winter months Vancouver students can enjoy outdoor sports such as skiing.
Vancouver has many professional sports teams such as the Canucks, the Whitecaps and the Vancouver Canadians to name a few. For those who are less interested in sports, Vancouver also has a thriving arts community, hosting the Vancouver International Film Festival as well as being home to Vancouver Art Gallery amongst other museums and galleries.
Vancouver is a busy city with plenty to do, students can spend time at the famous Granville Island market, spend time on local beaches or even spend the afternoon in Vancouver Public Library.

SCHOOL PROFILE AND ACADEMICS Located on the territories of the Nuu-chah-nulth First Nation along the central west coast of Vancouver Island, School District 70’s Alberni District Secondary School (ADSS) offers students a beautiful living environment with challenging academics. ADSS offers a Canada Hockey Skills Academy, an early French Immersion program, a leadership program, a forestry program, and dual credit courses in partnership with Vancouver Island University and North Island College. SCHOOLS AND ACADEMIES Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows in British Columbia is located only an hour east of Vancouver. Students in this district are offered a wide range of academic courses, from AP courses in English Literature and Composition, Psychology, and History of Art for grade 12 students, to the IB Program.
