Founded in 1811, Thornton Academy is one of New England’s oldest college preparatory schools. Its comprehensive curriculum consists of 200 courses, including seven foreign languages, 30 arts classes, and more than 60 AP, dual enrollment, and honors courses. Founded in 1792, Fryeburg Academy is a historic, academically rigorous school located in a classic New England village. The school offers specialized programs such as the film making program taught by a director who formerly worked at Hollywood’s MGM Studios. Additionally, the math program has won many state and regional championships. FACILITIES The rural 105-acre campus features an art gallery and a state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center where 80 school and local performances are held each year.
