The Charles Finney School
School DescriptionThe Charles Finney School is a private day school located in northern New York State. Established in 1992, the school offers students a challenging curriculum through honors tracks, as well as a dual enrollment program (college-level courses) with Houghton College and Monroe Community College.
The 16-acre campus has a state-of-the-art 3D printer, modern science labs, a library, and an auditorium. Its athletic facilities include a gymnasium, locker rooms, sports field, and mcourts. The Robotics program is supported by a CAD program and CNC machine, and students have the opportunity to learn how to use both machines.
SPORTS AND ARTS
There are 5 boys and 5 girls sports teams at the junior varsity and varsity levels. The especially strong boys and girls basketball teams were both New York state Champions.
Fine arts classes and extracurricular activities such as art, music, visual arts, and drama are offered, and many students have won regional and state awards.
AWARDS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Charles Finney School leads the way in the Rochester region with Scholastic Art Awards. It was the first private school to participate in the US FIRST Robotics competition, placing in the top spot in 2013.
Penfield is part of the Greater Rochester area. Bordered by the picturesque Irondequoit Bay, the town is just 15 minutes from downtown Rochester, an international center of higher education which offers a host of attractions and events like music and arts festivals.
