School DescriptionMontpelier High School (MHS) is a public school with 332 students from grades 9 to 12. Offering small class sizes with one teacher for every seven students, MHS offers unique programs and multiple pathways which allows students to tailor their experiences to fit their goals. They also offer a Community Based Learning Program to give students a hands on experience in the work environment.
The facilities include a 3D printer, solar panels with digital read-outs, a green house with rainwater collection, sub-irrigation, aquaponics systems, and a Mac Lab. The campus and community are focused around sustainability.
SPORTS AND ARTS
The athletics program offers opportunities for students to participate on great teams like the girls’ tennis team, who won four state championships in five years.
Each year students at Montpelier demonstrate their progress in the arts with a schoolwide exhibition of artwork including anything from short films to instrumental recitals.
AWARDS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS
In 2019, MHS was ranked by US News and World Report as the #13 high school in Vermont. Montpelier High School was also recognized as a School of Success by the National Center for Learning and Citizenship (NCLC).
Montpelier is the United States’ smallest state capital, creating a unique balance of activity and sense of community. Students can go camping, hiking, skiing, snowboarding, and biking in Vermont’s many mountains and forests.

A pair of students won first prize at the 2019 UVM Math Fair. Another pair of students won first place in Public Forum Debate competition at the Iroquois Districts Tournament, which qualified them for the national tournament. Girl’s state champions for ultimate Frisbee.

"Enjoy every moment like it is your last.” That phrase was my motto I lived by this past year.

Lyndon Institute is located 10 minutes from Burke Mountain ski and mountain bike resort.
