Mount Kelly is located on the outskirts of the quaint market town of Tavistock, on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. Established in 1877, the private, cooeducational UK boarding school educates students from aged 13 to 18. Excellent academic offering include GCSE core and optional courses, plus over 20 A-Level subjects taught in the Church of England tradition. For international students, ESL support and immersion is always available. Other special programmes include STEM, Go4Set and Peter Jones' Tycoon in Schools. Among the prestigious graduates of Mount Kelly are business elites, politicians, military officers, novelists, journalists, as well as actors and Olympic/professional athletes.
The campus is made up of 140 acres of landscaped grounds and features 25- and 50- metre Olympic Swimming Pools, a sports hall, two all-weather pitches, a climbing wall and two stages for musical theatre. Outdoors is a lake, a 9-hole golf course, tennis, netball, squash and fives courts, plus 8 grass pitches (rugby, football, rounders and cricket).
Sports and Arts
Mount Kelly pupils and alumni have won a total of 29 Olympic and Commonwealth swimming medals over the last 37 years. Students can take part in extracurricular activities such as the Duke of Edinburgh, Devizes to Westminster Canoe race, robotics, debate, Cadet Force, school radio, yoga and dance - just to name a few.
Dormitories and Student Life
Senior students living on campus occupy the Sixth Form boys' and girls' houses which offer a full-boarding option. Housemasters and Housemistresses provide 24-hour a day supervision to make sure pupils are safe and welcomed All dormitory rooms have study areas and each house features a communal room and a central dining room that serves delicious and healthy meals. The town of of Tavistock (Sir Francis Drake was a former mayor) was once voted "Best Market Town" and "Best Food Town" in England.
