HIGHLIGHT INFO

Lawrence Academy is a coeducational independent boarding school in Groton, Massachusetts, just 45 minutes from Boston. Their mission focuses on recognizing students for who they are; inspiring them to take responsibility for who they want to become and empowering them to take action for the greater good. Individualized learning and empowerment are a cornerstone of our program; a focus that extends beyond the classroom to athletics, the arts, clubs, community service, and experiential learning (via their Winterim program). Skilled at teaching for understanding, faculty use innovative methods to help students learn in the way best suited for them.

FACILITIES
Lawrence Academy is situated on a 140-acre campus in the center of Groton, Massachusetts, just 45-minutes from Boston. Campus has 9 main campus buildings, all serving different purposes; academic, dining, hangout, athletic, etc. One that stands out is the Stone Athletic Center. It's a 41,000-square-foot facility that houses three basketball courts, and two volleyball courts. The building also boasts two workout and fitness rooms, modern athletic training and rehabilitation facilities, as well as administrative offices and shower and locker space for home and visiting teams, coaches, and officials.

SPORTS AND ARTS
Spartan athletic programs provide opportunities for all student-athletes with varying skill levels to experience exercise, discipline, teamwork, perseverance, and personal growth. They field varsity, junior varsity, and thirds teams in a variety of sports, so student-athletes can compete intensely in the sport they're interested in. Students who want to be part of a team but aren’t necessarily interested in playing can take on the role of team manager / scorekeeper!
Courses in the arts are available in all disciplines, visual art, dance, music and theater. Students are encouraged to both pursue a broad exploration of several disciplines or study a passion in depth. Each term culminates in Arts Week, a multi-day celebration of Lawrence Academy’s student artists. A visual arts exhibit, theatre production, music concerts, and dance performance give students the opportunity to proudly share their creative work for the school community.

AWARDS AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Lawrence Academy holds an A+ rating on Niche.com.

DORMITORIES AND STUDENT LIFE
Each of Lawrence Academy’s nine dorms varies in size. Faculty members in residence live alongside boarding students to offer support and care, creating an on-campus family. All residences are secured with locks on both their main doors and each room door. Bathrooms, TV rooms, and laundry rooms are common spaces in each dormitory. The LA campus is located close to both train and bus lines to Boston and Cambridge, and students frequently take advantage of that access to regularly scheduled, school-sponsored shuttles to the nearest MBTA station. Students must receive parental or guardian approval to make these trips, and their departure from and return to campus is monitored as part of our regular sign-out system.
