Founded in 1867, Lyndon Institute is a historic school in New England that offers a STEM program, dual enrollment courses at nearby Northern Vermont University, 14 AP course options, and more than 20 visual, performing, and media arts courses. Lyndon Institute is located 10 minutes from Burke Mountain ski and mountain bike resort.
FACILITIES
Lyndon Institute’s 150-acre campus includes nature trails, science labs, computer labs, a multimedia center/library, sports fields, an ice hockey arena, a greenhouse, and a track and field facility. A new student center was introduced in 2016.
SPORTS AND ARTS
Lyndon’s indoor track, boys basketball, girls slope-style snowboarding, boys giant slalom alpine skiing, and softball teams were all 2015-16 State Champions. Also, recently the field hockey team won he state title, while the boys ice hockey team made it to the finals.
Students choose from unique arts courses such as world music, graphic arts, culinary arts, ballet, and analog photography. Additionally, Lyndon offers several AP-level art courses.
DORMITORIES AND STUDENT LIFE
The school has traditional dormitories built in the past 10 years with modern facilities. Each dormitory’s lounge area is equipped with a television, a kitchen, and computers. The school organizes trips and activities such as professional sporting events, kayaking, and a learn to ski/snowboard program.
